Your data in good hands

MEDICE Arzneimittel Pütter GmbH & Co. KG (hereafter also called MEDICE) takes protection of your personal data very seriously and complies with the legislation particularly with regard to data protection.

Your data are acquired, processed and stored exclusively according to the provisions of federal data protection (BDSG) and telemedia (TMG) legislation. We would like to briefly explain what data we record when you visit our web site and how we use them:

1. Recording data for use

MEDICE acquires and automatically stores log files information that your browser forwards to us. Every access to our web site and every retrieval of data and files is recorded. This is only used for internal system-related and statistical purposes. The following are recorded:

  • The type and version of the web browser used
  • The operating system used
  • The referrer URL (the site visited previously), provided it is transmitted by the visitor
  • The IP address of the internet connection making the query
  • The time of the server query
  • The name and URL of the file retrieved and the amount of data transmitted
  • Notification of successful retrieval

These data might permit identification, so there is no storage and use related to the individual in this respect. MEDICE will not assign these data to defined individuals and these data are not merged with other sources of data.

MEDICE acquires these data in the first instance to optimise the internet offer, i.e. for statistical purposes, and to ensure that the web site runs properly, i.e. particularly for system security and administration purposes. The data is not disclosed to third parties. The aforementioned data are, furthermore, deleted by MEDICE after use for the above-mentioned purposes (statistical analysis, system safety and administration).

Other personal data are only acquired if you voluntarily make them available, for instance in an enquiry or in registering.

2. Acquiring and processing personal data

Personal data are details about your personal or material circumstances, particularly your name, date of birth, e-mail address, telephone number or postal address.

When you visit our site, MEDICE acquires, processes and uses the data you provide only insofar as they are required to justify, conduct or end a contractual or contractual-like obligation with you.

Such a relationship arises, for instance, if you contact us to obtain information about us or our products, register for the protected area (MEDICE login), register to receive a newsletter, or if you take part in surveys, competitions or lotteries. In such cases MEDICE uses your personal data to process the particular matter in hand on your behalf. MEDICE acquires and saves only the data that are required for the particular purpose; for a general enquiry via our contact form for example, this is just your name and e-mail address; or for applying to receive an e-mail newsletter, it is just your e-mail address. If it is possible because of the nature of your request you can even contact us anonymously or using a pseudonym. MEDICE only forwards your data to third parties if this is necessary for processing contracts – particularly disclosure of order details to suppliers – or for invoicing purposes or when you have previously expressly agreed. Unless prolonged storage of them is necessary, your data will be deleted.

MEDICE does not forward personal data to third parties without your permission nor does it sell or hire out MEDICE data. MEDICE however reserves the right to disclose information about you if we are legally obliged to do so or if issuing such data is required of us by legitimate authorities or law enforcement bodies.

3. Registering for the protected area of the web site

Due to legal provisions concerning the advertising of therapeutic products, access to certain areas of the web site (protected areas) is reserved for health professionals. To enter the protected area you can either use your DocCheck login (for DocCheck see www.doccheck.com) or register with us (MEDICE login).

When you register for the MEDICE login we ask you for personal data such as your first name, surname, your address, telephone number, e-mail address, your profession, and for other voluntary details. We acquire and store your data merely to check that you are justified in gaining access and for administering it. No further use is made of your data nor are they passed to a third party. If necessary you can change the data you provide at any time at www.selbstmedikation.medice.de. To delete your entire account please contact datenschutz@medice.de. If however you delete details that are vital for a registration, MEDICE can no longer provide access to the protected area via the MEDICE login. In this case you can alternatively use your DocCheck identification.
